“2010 vs. 2024”: Former Durban Gen actress Nelisiwe Sibiya’s heartbreaking grass-to-grace life story inspires fans.

Nelisiwe Sibiya is a South African actress and musician whose grass-to-grace story is heart-touching and capable of giving hope to people struggling to make sense of their dream in the darkest times. This lady has been through many difficulties, but her will to succeed was more than the problems she faced at the time.

Through her motivational posts on social media, Nelisiwe Sibiya has gained popularity by reassuring people that there is hope for those who are feeling hopeless. The actress’s popularity also stems from her portrayal as a doctor in the South African TV series Durban Gen.

The musician and actress was born on September 13, 1992, in Johannesburg, South Africa. Faith grew up in Gauteng, at least until her father’s demise when she was nine, though she was born in Johannesburg. Things got tough for Nelisiwe Sibiya’s family afterwards, and her mother had to shoulder the responsibility of catering to her and her two other sisters. Sharing her experience later with her late father, she said:

It brought back all the pain when I was young, at the age of eight or nine, when my dad was shot in front of me. All the trauma we went through with my siblings when my father was hunted down and eventually killed by guns.

The impoverished family lived in shacks and relocated frequently. During those difficult times, Faith said that she and her family experienced a variety of forms of abuse, including sexual assault.

Prior to earning a degree in Musical Theatre from the Tshwane University of Technology in 2017, the South African television personality earned a diploma in Business and Marketing Management from Ekurhuleni East College Springs in 2014.

Since she was a little girl, Nelisiwe’s desire for music was glaring, and her mother and elder sister, Thabisile, tutored her. Nevertheless, before and after finishing university, she worked several jobs, including being a promoter for brands at malls and other places. She once said that she used to sleep in the toilet at work after getting there earlier than her shifts began.

She wrote and sang a heartfelt farewell song in memory of her mother after she passed away. The producer of the South African television series Lockdown, Mandla Ngcongwane, was drawn to the song and extended an invitation for her to visit Johannesburg. The songs of Nelisiwe Sibiya eventually became the show’s theme music.

This exposure got Nelisiwe into the entertainment industry. Before long, she got her first television series feature as a lead actress in the South African television soap Durban Gen, where she played Dr Mbali Mthethwa.

Although the actress does not discuss much of her personal life, news of Nelisiwe Sibiya’s engagement with a certain gospel musician, Ayanda Ntanzi, could not be hidden from the public. But unfortunately, their relationship ended sometime in 2019.

Sibiya’s net worth reportedly ranges from $1 to $5 million. Regardless of her value, though, she achieved success in her professional career as an actor, musician, and skincare product brand ambassador. Nelisiwe Sibiya is a great example for everyone aspiring to work in entertainment, even if it appears that she always encounters obstacles in her path. She is evidence that there is hope in the sky, but one must make a commitment to never give up.
