South African actress Busi Lurayi passed away. Here are five things we know about the beloved actress. The family of Busi Lurayi confirmed her death via a statement on Monday 11 July. According to the statement, the actress passed away at her home on Sunday 10 July and was confirmed dead by medical personnel.

The family states the cause of death is unknown until they receive the autopsy results. We are deeply saddened to notify you of the passing of our beloved Busisiwe Lurayi,” read the statement.

“Busisiwe passed away suddenly and was pronounced dead at her residence on Sunday 10.07.2022 by medical personnel. The reason for her death is still unknown as we await the results of the autopsy report,” the statement continued.

Busi was both a stage and on-screen actress. She was best known for starring as Phumzile on the SABC1 sitcom City Ses’la and the spin-off series Ses’Top La.

Busi’s “baby daddy” is businessman Mziwoxolo Qwelane. The pair had some drama looming in 2020 when Qwelane claimed she stole furniture from his home in Randburg. According to Drum, Qwelane knew Busi was the culprit because he saw her loading the furniture into a truck in the CCTV footage.
