Andile Jali remains one of the most talented midfielders in the country for the past decade. He was among the first names on the Bafana Bafana team sheet, and many clubs sought his signature.
Kaizer Chiefs wanted him among those clubs, but he did not sign with them and revealed the reason. Speaking to Robert Marawa, Andile Jali said there was a contract clause that he did not like.
WHY ANDILE JALI DITCHED KAIZER CHIEFS
In his words, Andile Jali struggled to explain the contract clause that kept him away from the Chiefs. He however revealed that Kaizer Chiefs had a clause restricting him from posting what he wanted on social media.
He claimed that what he would be posting would have to be censored by the club, and that pissed him off. After he explained the clause, Robert Marawa said it is called an image rights clause.

MZANSI REACTS
After Andile Jali revealed why he ditched Kaizer Chiefs, fans had divided opinions on whether Kaizer Chiefs should change.
@bhekidesmahlang “All over the world, there are teams that own image rights for the sake of their brand. I think this is a good clause.”
@IamLtkWarric “Imagine not signing for the biggest team in Africa just because you want to wake up and post TikTok challenges, Yoh South African players!!!!”
@EphraimSbudda “Jali wants to post beer-drinking pics, and Marawa is talking about image rights. I don’t think they’re on the same page. Also, big clubs do that worldwide; it’s nothing new, and it’s to protect their brand.”
@RALETMaN “It funny how the chiefs name pops up when people’s careers are coming to an end🤔🤣🤣🤣”
@wonderkhuzwayo “I don’t think Khune had the same agreement; that guy could post anything on social media.”
