Being unique is one of the phenomenal things. Do you know that it is not a ‘must’ to do what everybody else does? Sometimes you just have to do what’s different from others just to mark your territory. Seems like Brenda Mhlongo is one of those people who prefer to be unique than to be similar to others.

We all know that every year on the 24th of September we celebrate heritage day in South Africa. On this day, South Africans are encouraged to celebrate their culture and the diversity of their beliefs and traditions, in the wider context of a nation that belongs to all its people. People wear their traditional attires to be connected to their roots, especially the 9 of the 11 official languages (excluding Afrikaans and English).

Almost every Mzansi celebrity was in traditional attire; Makhadzi is one of those celebrities who was in traditional attires, however she did it differently because she dressed all of the 9 traditional attires and everyone was impressed. Brenda Mhlongo who plays the character of ‘KaMadonsela on the Etv’s drama series; Imbewu has been spotted wearing an uncommon traditional attire.

The 41 year old Brenda Mhlongo shared some pictures of herself on Instagram wearing an Indian attire, the long silky dress and head wrap, and that attire is worn by Indian men, not women, can you imagine! The Instagram post has been captioned: “Happy Heritage Day”. Almost everyone (fans and other celebrities) found it so cute and they were even complimenting her via comments.

So you see… sometimes you just have to be unique for a change. Just because everyone is in Zulu, Sotho, Swati, Xhosa, Tswana, Venda, Tsonga, Ndebele or Pedi traditional outfit, it doesn’t necessarily mean that we shouldn’t accommodate even those from other countries. Anyway, check out some of the comments below:
