Durban Gen’s Bab Gumede and Uzalo’s Screwdriver are real-life father and son?

In the vibrant world of South African television, fans often form deep connections with their favorite characters and the actors who portray them. Recently, two stars from popular series have found themselves at the center of an intriguing rumor: Simosibucayi Buthelezi, known for his role as Bab Gumede on Durban Gen, and Sifiso Sibiya, famed for his portrayal of Screwdriver on Uzalo, have been mistakenly identified as father and son. However, the actors have come forward to clarify that they are not related, despite their striking resemblance.

The speculation began as fans of both shows noticed the similarities in the actors’ appearances and behaviors. Many viewers took to social media, expressing their belief that Simosibucayi and Sifiso were indeed family. The two actors, however, were taken aback by the rumors. In interviews, they shared their surprise at the public’s perception, stating that they had never considered that they looked alike.

Simosibucayi, who plays Screwdriver on Uzalo, addressed the rumors directly: “I’ve been getting questions about whether Sifiso is my father. When I heard the question for the first time, I laughed, thinking that the fan was just joking. But this thing became serious when more fans asked me the same question.” He emphasized that while they share a close friendship, they are not related by blood. “Sifiso and I hang out together often. We are friends but we are not related.”

Both actors have expressed that they appreciate the curiosity of their fans, with Simosibucayi adding, “Some think I deny my father. But I don’t; we might look alike, but I am not his son. We are humans after all, and we are God’s creations, so we must not be surprised if we look alike.” He further mentioned that the playful nature of the rumors has not offended him, highlighting the bond they share beyond their on-screen personas. “I like it when people say we look alike or we are related. He is my friend, and we have a lot in common, including our looks.”

The humorous side of the situation was not lost on either actor. Simosibucayi recounted a particularly amusing suggestion from a fan who proposed that they conduct a DNA test to prove their non-relationship. “Well, that was funny and unnecessary. And I’m not going to do that to prove that we are not related,” he chuckled.

As the actors continue to captivate audiences with their performances, it’s clear that their friendship is a testament to the camaraderie that often develops in the entertainment industry. While the rumors may have sparked curiosity among fans, Simosibucayi Buthelezi and Sifiso Sibiya have made it clear that they are simply two talented individuals who enjoy each other’s company, not family members.

In a world where the lines between fiction and reality can sometimes blur, it’s essential to remember that behind the characters we love are real people with their own stories, friendships, and lives. So, while fans may continue to speculate, the bond between these two actors remains strong, built on friendship rather than familial ties.
