Prominent businessman and CEO of Blackhead Consulting Edwin Sodi has been released on R150 000 bail after spending a week behind bars.

Sodi’s estranged wife Nthateng Lerata has laid the charges of attempted murder, assault with an intention to commit grievous bodily harm, pointing a firearm, and domestic abuse against him.

According to Sunday World, Sodi’s bail conditions requires him to not communicate or interfere with witnesses directly or indirectly. The publication also shared that the matter has been postponed to May 31 for further investigations.

Sodi made headlines back in 2020 in a high-profile Free State asbestos corruption case. As a result, his over R300 million worth of possessions and over twenty-five luxury cars including Ferraris and Bentleys were reportedly seized.

Sodi has also previously been embroiled in several scandals including the accusations that he was behind the split between DJ Sbu and his now-ex-wife Disebo Makatsa.

It was also alleged that Sodi had an affair with the now ex-wife of Rapper and TV presenter ProVerb which resulted in their divorce after 10 years of Marriage. Read More: Proverb Reveals Failed Suicide Attempt After Wife Cheated

Meanwhile, ProVerb has opened up about how the divorce affected him in his memoir titled The Book Of ProVerb. The rapper revealed that he attempted suicide after learning about his ex-wife’s infidelity back in 2015.

The TV star also opened up to All4Women about that period in his life. “This for me is the biggest takeaway I hope those who read the book receive. I address how depression is a daily struggle and how I service my peace and wellbeing daily by focusing on all the positives, being eternally optimistic, and by celebrating the milestones big or small.

“I’m in a fantastic space, personally and professionally. I’m fortunate to do what I love and get so much fulfilment doing it. My kids are blossoming and this is my biggest source of happiness and peace,” he told the publication.

He added that celebrities are human too and are not immune to diseases like depression. “Depression does not discriminate but it feeds on silence and shame. If we speak more openly about it we can exchange information, ideas, and eventually solutions.

“This is also why I felt the need to pen my experiences around this to hopefully lift someone who is struggling or just needs to know that they are not alone and no one is immune,” he said.
