Finally! Goodness Gets Justice

If you’re an avid viewer of Mzansi Magic’s The Queen, then you will know of the intense emotional roller-coaster Goodness, [played by Zenande Mfenyane] has been going through.

In the storyline, Goodness who was in a brief relationship with a soccer star by the name of Thabiso is raped by him.

After keeping the dreadful secret to herself, Goodness eventually reveals that Thabiso raped her.

Sadly, because of his “good” reputation and his status as a soccer star, goodness is painted as a liar and devious woman who was attempting to tarnish Thabiso’s “squeaky clean” image.

Goodness eventually laid a charge of sexual assault against Thabiso. The sad part is that society did not believe that This man raped Goodness. For weeks on end, she has been attending court to prove that Thabiso is indeed a rapist.

Two days ago, Goodness began to lose hope as the court proceedings leaned towards acquitting Thabiso of the charges, however, before the judge made her final ruling an unknown man interrupted the court proceedings and that is where Goodness’s road to justice and recovery begins.

The unknown man turns out to be Hamilton, a cab driver that Goodness usually uses when in need of transport.

On the day she was raped, Goodness had called Hamilton to come pick Thabiso up as he was too drunk and unfit to drive, during the call and as Thabiso was about to rape her, Goodness had forgotten to hang up her phone; hence Hamilton heard everything and recorded what had happened.

The audio recording of that dreadful incident was then played in court on Wednesday night’s episode.

Since the airing of the episode, Zenande has been praised for her role in this emotionally draining storyline.

Considering how serious of an issue rape-culture is in South Africa, many people thanked Zenande for being so sensitive yet so honest in telling Goodness’s story.
