‘We will always be here for you, Mia,’ former Miss SA Natasha Joubert reacts to Mia le Roux’s Miss Universe withdrawal.
Due to health concerns, reigning Miss SA Mia le Roux has withdrawn from the 73rd Miss Universe pageant.
Miss SA Organisation announced the news through a now-viral statement shared online on Friday, 15 November.
MISS SA ORGANISATION CONFIRMS MIA LE ROUX’S EXIT FROM MISS UNIVERSE
News of her withdrawal comes barely a day before the finale, which will take place on 16 November in Mexico City, Mexico.
Taking to Instagram, Miss SA Organisation posted, “It is with deep regret that we share the news that Mia le Roux, Miss South Africa 2024, has had to withdraw from the Miss Universe pageant due to health concerns.”
However, against the eleventh-hour decision, South Africa’s first-ever differently abled Miss SA was thankful for the support she has been receiving.
Miss SA Mia le Roux said, “I am profoundly thankful for the unwavering support from South Africa during my time at Miss Universe.
“Making the decision has been incredibly challenging, knowing the dreams and hopes that have been placed upon me.”
She added, “However, I am deeply grateful to have the opportunity to focus on my health and recovery so that I may continue to serve my country with full strength.”
RUMOURED HEALTH CONCERNS REVEALED
Several news blogs have since shared the alleged health reasons behind the decision on X, formerly Twitter, including the Miss Universe South Africa’s account.
The page, which happens to be – a fan page for the Miss SA pageant, revealed that Mia le Roux allegedly withdrew because of vertigo.

Vertigo is a sensation of motion or spinning often described as dizziness and usually associated with hearing loss. Against the news the Miss SA Organisation hasn’t openly confirmed the news.

Miss SA 2023 Natasha Joubert, who crowned Mia le Roux as her successor, has since reacted to the news of her withdrawal.
Taking to the picture-sharing app, she shared photos with Mia le Roux and captioned them with encouragement and support. She captioned the photo in one of the photos, ‘We love you.’
She captioned the other post, ‘Forever our queen.’ However, she also joined a host of fans and celebrities who flooded Miss SA Organisation’s comments section with words of comfort to the Miss SA.
