‘I am working hard’: Mia le Roux on competing at Miss Universe

Reigning Miss SA Mia le Roux talks about her Miss Universe journey and spending time in Mexico ahead of the pageant’s finale.

Reigning Miss SA Mia le Roux opens up about her Miss Universe journey so far while in Mexico.

MIA LE ROUX: ‘I AM WORKING HARD’
Reigning Miss SA Mia le Roux made history as South Africa’s first-ever differently-abled Miss SA. Mia is representing South Africa at the Miss Universe pageant. She will be competing in the 73rd Miss Universe pageant taking place in Mexico City, Mexico on 17 November. Reigning Miss Universe Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua will crown her successor at the end of the event.

Mia revealed that she has a been enjoying herself in Mexico.

“It has been a jam-packed schedule but I have enjoyed seeing some of Mexico and how beautiful it is, experiencing some of its culture and meeting contestants from around the world. I am working hard but also taking the time to savour every moment and memory,” she said in a statement.

“I want to thank South Africans for their messages of support – it has meant the world to me and I will be carrying all of you with me when I walk on the Miss Universe stage,” she continued.

STEPHANIE WEIL ON MIA LE ROUX COMPETING AT MISS UNIVERSE

Miss SA Stephanie Weil expressed that they are proud of how well Mia has been doing in Mexico.

“We are so proud of how well Mia is doing in Mexico. She has proudly taken her very special message of inclusivity to Miss Universe, one in which she has committed to represent every South African. She is an inspiration as she continues to represent every excluded individual with the goal to bring a future of hope and opportunity to them. We are rooting for her to take the crown,” said  Miss South Africa Organisation CEO Stephanie Weil.
