Just in: Big Nuz member Mampintsha Maphumulo has passed away.
Award-winning gqom star Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo has died. His close friend Sandile Makhoba, confirmed the news on social media.
The 40-year-old singer who was a member of the award-winning group Big Nuz was admitted to King Edward Hospital in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal over the weekend after suffering a mild stroke.
In a post, Sandile wrote “Uvume kanjani,” which translates to “how did you agree,” accompanied by crying face emojis.

His label Westink Entertainment, released a statement on Friday 23 December 2022, stating that Mampintsha started experiencing muscle pain on Friday 16 December and a private medical doctor was called to assess his condition. The doctor recommended that he be rushed to the hospital.
“As Mandlenkosi Maphumulo’s family who is publicly known as Mampintsha, we would like to take this opportunity to share some recent developments regarding Mampintsha’s health,” reads part of the statement.
The statement continued “On Friday the 16th Mampinstha was having lunch with his family when he started experiencing muscle pain, a private medical doctor was then called into his house to asses Mampinstha’s muscle pain, the doctor then advised we rush him to the hospital.”
“He is currently receiving treatment in a state of a coma. Mampinstha’s wife has asked that the public follows the update given to them by Afrotainnemnt as well as Westink Entertainment.”
