Kay Sibiya embraces his new career as a DJ.

Contrary to popular belief, Khumbulani “Kay” Sibiya, the talented actor known for his roles in Uzalo and Generation: The Legacy, has not bid farewell to his acting career just yet.
The 36-year-old actor from Durban, who has recently ventured into DJing, delightedly revealed that he will soon be making a comeback on the small screen.

Kay, known for his memorable roles as Ayanda on SABC1’s popular soapie, Uzalo, and Siyanda Khoza in Generation: The Legacy, temporarily stepped away from television to pursue his passion for deejaying. However, he has now wrapped up filming for a new TV show.

“I can’t mention it now due to terms in the contract, but I’ll also be in a movie and will reveal more details at a later stage.Acting is part of my life and people are still going to watch me on their small screens. I’m still in negotiations with one of the top soapies but for now, no agreements but if everything goes well, I might appear again,” he said.

Kay, who has also graced our screens in other TV shows such as Imbewu: The Seed and Lockdown Heights, cleverly pointed out the stark contrast between deejaying and acting.

“In deejaying or in the music industry, you always need to market yourself to be in the eyes of the people and for event organisers to recognise you.” he said

Another challenge he faces is that many event organisers and others who book him still see him primarily as an actor.”I’m lucky because I do all this with love. It helps put food on the table,” he said.

In November 2023, Kay dropped his debut single called Kuyabongwa, and he’s now treating us to another musical delight with his latest release, Athandwe.
In addition, he humorously mentioned that he’s getting ready to drop his first EP in the coming year.
