Liesl Laurie-Mthombeni shares her feelings and experiences after having an emotional breakdown.

Liesl Laurie recently shared a unique picture of herself, showing tears in her eyes and expressed that life is not always perfect, which is completely normal.

In a long post, she went on to elaborate on the cause of her tearful eyes.

She wrote that she woke up before 6 this morning and felt extremely stressed out by everything. She was unsure if it was due to the pressure of the last quarter of the year or just a general feeling of anxiety to excel in everything she does.

In her discussion, she reflected on how the experience of watching the Barbie movie provoked profound contemplation regarding the societal pressure on women to embody flawlessness.

“When I watched the Barbie movie, Gloria’s monologue, portrayed by America Ferrera, deeply struck a chord with me as it exposed the unjust, unrealistic expectations placed upon women.”

“We are constantly expected to be exceptional, yet no matter what we do, we seem to make mistakes. We are told to be slim, but not excessively so. And we must never openly admit that we desire to be thin. Instead, we should express our desire to be healthy, while still maintaining a thin figure…”

“I connected with various aspects of the monologue and now I understand that there are days that can be really tough. I have previously mentioned this and I will reiterate it: I give my full effort in my work, at the gym, and with my family. Therefore, today I will also give my full effort to allow myself to cry. As for tomorrow, we will wait and see what it holds. We have faith in God for the happiness that comes in the morning,” she finished.

Nevertheless, Liesl expressed gratitude towards her spouse, Musa Mthombeni, for being extremely supportive and caring towards her throughout this difficult period.
