Makhadzi has been on everyone’s lips since the instant they laid eyes on her, leaving fans mesmerized together with her performances. For the entire of 2020, she has been on top of her game so SABC 2’s Muvhango saw it fitting that she ushers their viewers into the New Year.

On New Year’s Day Eve, Muvhango had a special guest and it had been nonother than the very energetic Makhadzi who set the stage ablaze. The performance was proudly organized by Muvhango’s Vhutshilo and as per their invite, everyone could take part on the fun virtually.

Artists working on soapies isn’t a replacement thing but Makhadzi had everyone talking together with her thrilling performance.

Speaking to Daily Sun before her performance, the Murahu hitmaker said she was excited to welcome within the New Year with the Muvhango family. She, like many others is anxious about the New Year , saying she hopes this year may be a better one than 2020.

She also felt reception because she boasted about having friends on the show. Makhadzi even touched on the drama which ensued between her and her former manager Rita Dee, saying she has dusted herself off and can specialise in her supporters.

“I know I’ve been making headlines this year due to the drama with my former manager, but I’ll dust myself off and specialise in my music. I even have fans who support my music,” she told the publication.

Makhadzi went on a Twitter rant blasting Rita Dee over unpaid royalties from her debut album Matorokisi, Rita then decided to hit Makhadzi with a defamation of character lawsuit.

Her performance on Muvhango had her topping the trends list, however, she also dominated on social media when she won Song Of The Year for her hit single Murahu on various radio stations nationwide. She also made history by being the sole artist to require the title for 2 years during a row. Last year she won Song Of The Year for Haka Matorikisi.

Many celebrities came in their numbers to point out Makhadzi support and express their excitement for the Limpopo Queen.

Like every other year, the Song Of The Year which is set by listeners altogether radio stations causes a stir on social media and conversations around tribalism occur. Yearly, Ukhozi FM gets lambasted by many of us for less than showing support to KZN artists. Winning the SOTY title was Khuzani for his hit song Ijele which scooped a powerful 957 950 Votes.
