Mother Left in the Dark About Daughter’s Tragic Death in Tembisa Car Crash

A devastating car crash involving Sekhukhune United soccer player Shaune Mogaila has left a Tembisa mother grappling with injuries and heartbreak, unaware that her nine-year-old daughter, Gomolemo, passed away during the incident. The woman, Keo Mavimbela, recently came out of a coma and has been asking about her daughter. However, her family is reluctant to disclose the heartbreaking news, fearing it could hinder her recovery.

“Whenever she starts asking about her daughter, we make excuses or change the topic. We can’t tell her now,” said Keo’s husband, Tshepo Kekana. He explained the family’s decision to delay revealing the truth: “The aim is to allow her to heal completely before delivering the news about our little girl.”

The accident occurred on October 30, when Keo was driving Gomolemo and a 13-year-old boy to school. Mogaila’s vehicle collided head-on with her Hyundai, leading to Gomolemo’s death at the scene. Both Keo and the boy were rushed to the hospital with severe injuries.

#### Recovery Process for the Survivors

Tshepo reported that both Keo and the boy are showing progress in their recovery. “They are recovering very well in the hospital,” he said.

The 13-year-old boy’s family also shared an update, revealing that he is undergoing physiotherapy after receiving steel implants in both legs. The boy, who does not remember the accident, has been told by his family that he is in the hospital due to illness.

Mihloti Ndlovu, the boy’s aunt, noted his challenges: “He’s struggling to walk and can’t take more than eight steps. However, we’re hopeful that physiotherapy will help him recover enough to return home.”

#### Legal Proceedings and Next Steps

Shaune Mogaila, who was involved in the crash, is currently out on bail of R20,000. His court case is scheduled for February 4, 2025.

The incident has drawn significant attention, sparking conversations about road safety and the accountability of public figures involved in such tragedies.

#### A Family’s Heartbreak

As the Kekana family navigates this challenging time, they are torn between shielding Keo from the painful truth and preparing her to cope with the loss. Their primary focus remains her physical recovery before they can address the emotional impact of losing Gomolemo.

This tragic event has left an indelible mark on all those involved, with families grappling with grief and survivors facing long roads to recovery.
