She got appointed to this position by her mother in law who said during the press conference, “We as Royal Am we sat and we thought we have girls in the family and I am also a girl, unfortunately Andile is the only man in the family, so he is outvoted. He brought in girls, his wife is a woman, i am a woman so, we bought franchise for the ladies team which will be competing in the women’s league. And SAFA has approved it, and we are proud to announce that Royal AM will now have Royal Am ladies” said Shauwn Mkhize.

Andile and Sithelo are embroiled in a legal court battle over allegations that he abused her. She started a petition to help gain public support and it exceeded the signatures she needed.

“Thank you to everyone who took time to sign the petition, it has done exceptionally well and exceeded all our expectations, it surely will serve its purpose,” she wrote. “I’ve realized how easy it is to say or encourage everyone on speaking out about their past traumas, things they may be going through even in the present moment, but nobody really prepares you for the backlash that comes with it. We are truly a big part of the problem too unfortunately. We continuously make it so hard for people to tell their stories and escape these past traumas. I for one, stand in my truth and will always dim any noise around it.”
