Police probe Shebeshxt for crash leading to daughter’s death.

Controversial rapper Katlego “Shebeshxt” Chauke is currently under investigation by the police for culpable homicide following a tragic motor vehicle accident that resulted in the untimely death of his nine-year-old daughter, according to Sunday World.

The Polokwane police have reportedly reached out to the artist’s family to obtain statements related to the crash, indicating their intention to solicit testimonies from both Chauke and his girlfriend, Kholefelo Chuene, concerning the incident.

Moreover, authorities have expressed their intent to conduct a sobriety test by drawing blood from Chauke to ascertain his state during the time of the accident. Sources close to the artist have indicated that police have implied the possibility of charging him with culpable homicide should evidence of negligence or reckless behavior be substantiated.

Allegedly colliding with a stationary truck on the R37 road between Polokwane and Lebowakgomo, Chauke’s daughter lost her life instantly, while the prominent artist suffered severe injuries, reportedly leading to the loss of his foot. Chuene, on the other hand, sustained injuries to her head and lips, with both individuals promptly transported to Polokwane Provincial Hospital following the ordeal.

However, it was reported that EFF President Julius Malema intervened in the situation by transferring the artist from a public health facility to a private hospital after concerns of insufficient medical attention arose. The intervention led to Chauke receiving necessary treatment in the private hospital’s intensive care unit, where signs of recovery were noted, with Chauke able to respond to medical inquiries regarding his identity and profession as an artist.

While the artist’s family had initially planned to conduct the daughter’s funeral last Friday with support from the Limpopo Arts Movement, the ceremony was postponed to the following weekend in the hopes that Chauke would have recuperated adequately to attend. Limpopo police provincial spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba emphasized the necessity for police to collect evidence and statements from all relevant parties, including family members of the deceased and individuals involved in the incident, to establish the facts in culpable homicide investigations.

Ledwaba elucidated that drawing blood for testing purposes is a standard procedure in investigating such cases, underscoring the importance of adherence to legal guidelines and fair treatment of all involved parties to ensure a just investigative process in compliance with the law.
