‘R500k’: Makhadzi reveals how much she spends on her videos

Award-winning singer Makhadzi is trending after she revealed how much she spent on her recent video with Nigerian singer Iyanya.

With an illustrious career spanning years, Makhadzi has quickly become one of the most celebrated singers in South Africa.

Dubbed the ‘African Queen’, Makhadzi has managed to headline several shows across the globe. She has also dropped some of the best musical videos.

No doubt these videos have won big on several platforms, including YouTube. The singer is trending after she revealed how much she invests in her videos.

Taking it to social media, Makhadzi made it known that her new song, Number1, will be dropping on 10 May. Makhadzi featured Nigerian star Iyanya, and the two also made a video for the song, which is set to drop on YouTube.

However, she revealed that she used R500 000 for the video. She posted, “Spent half a million in this music video. We call this investing in your craft.#takenotes. I can’t wait for you all to watch this. My fans will watch an expensive and exclusive music video for the first time in my career.”

Makhadzi made it known that the video was one of her most expensive and was shot in Ghana. However, this is not the first time she has revealed how much she spends on her videos.

No doubt she has been winning big since leaving Open Mic Productions. In 2023, the award-winning star singer had a dramatic fallout with Open Mic Productions. She accused the label of exploitation and even made it known she was owed millions in royalties.

Against their fallout, she went on to establish Makhadzi Entertainment. However, the record label has since released several songs and videos, which include Mapara, with over 12 million views in five months on YouTube.
