SINKHOLE CATCHES THE COPS!
COPS rushing to a crime scene were stopped dead in their tracks by a sinkhole!
They had no choice but to wait for help to remove their van – and they weren’t the only ones.
Not far from the police van , a school bus also was trapped in the hole.
Tuesday was a busy day for Bekkersdal residents west of Joburg, who had to pull the bus and the police van out.
Stranded pupils had to wait next to the road for their bus to be removed.
Residents said even though the municipality filled the sinkholes, they opened up again shortly afterwards.
“After two months, the holes are open again,” David Molamu said.
Community leader Thokozani Mncube told Daily Sun: “No one cares about people’s lives and cars are getting damaged. ”
Bekkersdal is next to a mining area and has long been bothered by sinkholes. Worried residents said: “We will be buried in our houses one day.”
Venterspost Primary principal Hammond Maqelepo told the People’s Paper: “We have been here for over an hour. I rushed here and fortunately, there were no injuries.”
Rand West City spokesman Tshidiso Tlharipe said they have appointed a contractor to fix the road and he is currently on site.
