‘Sleep with one eye open’: Reeva’s fam to Oscar Pistorius girlfriend
Reeva Steenkamp’s Mother Issues Stern Warning to Oscar Pistorius’s Alleged New Girlfriend
June Steenkamp, the mother of the late Reeva Steenkamp, has issued a chilling warning to Oscar Pistorius’s new alleged girlfriend, Rita Greyling.
This comes after reports surfaced over the weekend that the former Paralympian is romantically linked to a woman bearing a striking resemblance to Reeva following his parole release in January.
On Valentine’s Day in 2013, Oscar Pistorius shot and killed Reeva Steenkamp at his Pretoria home, claiming he mistook her for an intruder. However, those close to Reeva have long maintained that she was trying to leave the relationship, describing Pistorius as abusive, controlling, and prone to fits of jealousy.
‘HE’S STILL A DANGER TO WOMEN’ – JUNE STEENKAMP
Speaking to The Sun, June Steenkamp expressed her concerns for Rita Greyling, warning her about Oscar’s alleged unresolved anger issues.
“I don’t understand how she doesn’t see a red flag about him because he has not lost his temper problem,” June stated.
She continued:
“He was supposed to be under anger management when he was in jail, and at one stage, I stopped him coming out because I was annoyed that he wasn’t having treatment.
“He was angry – and he still has a problem with anger. He’s still a danger to women. Reeva only knew him for three months, and she was dead, and he’s never confessed.”
SIMONE STEENKAMP: ‘SLEEP WITH ONE EYE OPEN’
Reeva’s sister, Simone, echoed their mother’s concerns, speaking candidly to MailOnline.
“This new woman knows a judge found him guilty of murder, which means she must know that he has been found capable of doing that to a woman, but she sleeps with him?”
Simone added a chilling warning:
“I have nothing against her, but will warn her to sleep with one eye open. He has inside him the potential to do again what he did to Reeva, and I don’t want that ever repeated.”
‘HE HAS SHOWN NO REMORSE’
Last year, June Steenkamp spoke out about Oscar Pistorius’s parole, claiming he had shown no remorse for the 2013 killing.
Appearing on the Australian show Seeking Justice, June revealed:
“I feel that he is not rehabilitated. His problem is his temper. He might hurt someone else if he comes out.”
June also shared a heartbreaking account of her attempt to meet Pistorius face-to-face during a parole hearing.
“He would not come out of his cell. He was supposed to come to talk to me, but he refused.”
June further emphasized that what she and her late husband Barry had sought was a full confession from Pistorius.
“It would help us. That would be justice.”
Sadly, Barry Steenkamp passed away shortly after, with the family attributing his death to a “broken heart.”
RED FLAGS FOR PISTORIUS’S NEW ROMANCE
The reports of Pistorius’s alleged new relationship have sparked intense reactions, particularly given the unsettling similarities between Rita Greyling and the late Reeva Steenkamp. For the Steenkamp family, Oscar Pistorius remains a man with unresolved anger issues and a danger to women.
As the former Paralympian attempts to move forward with his life post-parole, June and Simone Steenkamp’s warnings serve as a stark reminder of the tragic events that ended Reeva’s life and the lingering pain that still haunts her family.
