Mzansi is overcome with emotion after watching video footage of Dj Sumbody’s family performing a ritual at the location of the crime. Both the Amapiano pioneer Oupa John Sefoka, also known as DJ Sumbody, and his chauffeur were killed in a shooting early on Sunday morning in Woodmead.
After he had passed away, his family traveled to the location of the crime where he had been killed in order to gather his spirit. After they had succeeded in capturing his spirit, they next proceeded to carry out a rite of purification at the location. The ceremony that was carried out by Dj Sumbody’s family is pretty typical in African cultural practice. When someone passes away, particularly in such a terrible way, the family will undertake a ceremony in order to collect the spirit of the deceased from the location where they passed away in order to ensure that the deceased can rest in peace. Watch the video below to see members of Dj Sumbody’s family carrying out a ceremony at the place of the crime;

On the other hand, DJ Sumbody’s funeral was held this past Saturday. A gathering of Dj Sumbody’s family, close friends, and coworkers took place at Apel Fourways Cross in Ga-Masemola, Limpopo, in order to say their final goodbyes. Cassper Nyovest performed “Monate Mpolaye,” a song that the DJ and music producer had collaborated on together, as a way to pay tribute to Dj Sumbody. In the wake of his passing, there have been rumors circulating on social media that Dj Sumbody was a drug lord.
Tshepi Ranamane, DJ Sumbody’s business partner, addressed mourners who had gathered to witness the burial of DJ Sumbody. In his speech, he refuted theories that there was a conspiracy surrounding DJ Sumbody’s death. He claimed that the Amapiano manufacturer was not a member of a criminal organization but was simply skilled at his trade.
