Social Media Drove A Good Man To His Death,” Hlomla On Patrick Shai’s Passing

The river star Hlomla Dandala has taken to social media to question the award-winning rapper Cassper Nyovest’s lyrics following the passing of legendary actor Patrick Shai.

Hlomla posted parts of the lyrics of Cassper’s popular song “Hypnotized” with a caption that reads: “I am confused…when is it okay to call people ‘B*tch’ #RIPPatricShai.” However, the star later changed the caption to #RIPPatrickShai.

Before his ultimate passing, Patrick received backlash on social media after he made a video asking Cassper for a boxing match.

In the video that made rounds on social media, Patrick says: “Before I die, I want to make sure that I beat you so that on my tombstone they can write this is the man who beat Caster or Costa or whatever your sh*t name is … Come you son of a b*tch.”

Cassper did not take kindly to the remarks made by the late actor. He responded to the video asking why he was “insulting” his mother.

The actor later issued an apology saying, “I should have known better as an adult. My apologies, I humbly, from the bottom of my heart, apologise for having used such strong language towards your mom. Even though the challenge would’ve been an ideal thing, but now it has been soured by what I said.

“I apologise from the bottom of my heart, please forgive me and forgive me South Africans. I am regretting every bit of the last sentence. That I used, I’m sorry.”

This past Saturday, it was then reported that Patrick Shai had committed suicide. His family also shared a statement on social media asking for privacy.

The statement read: “It is with great sadness to announce the passing of veteran actor Ntate Patrick Shai. He passed away this morning (22nd January 2022).

“We sincerely ask you to give the family to process this painful loss. More details will be shared in due course.”

Fans and other celebrities have since reacted to the news on social media. Taking to Instagram, Hlomla Dandala shared a video yesterday saying, “I just found out about the death of Patrick Shai. All those people that came for him for likes, I hope you happy,”
