‘They’ll be gone in 60 seconds’: The suspects in AKA and Tibz’s murder case will return to court on 6 March for a formal bail application.

The five suspects linked in AKA and Tibz’s murder case told the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 29 February that they intend to apply for bail, ECR reported.

According to the publication, the names of the five men accused of killing slain rapper AKA — real name Kiernan Jarryd Forbes and Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane on 10 February in Durban are Lindokuhle Mkhwanazi, Eddie Myeza, Lindani Ndimande and Mziwethemba Gwabeni.

The accused made their first court appearance this morning, just over a year since AKA and Tibz were shot and killed on Florida Road. They are said to be facing a total of 10 charges including conspiracy to commit murder, two counts of murder, attempted murder, unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition

They appeared in court with masks and hoodies on with an attempt to conceal their faces. The five accused have reportedly acquired private legal representation. Their attorneys are said to have argued that the accused are yet to be convicted and could face victimisation from the public if they reveal their faces.

According to The Citizen, one of the men accused has also complained about mistreatment in custody. The murder case was postponed to 6 March. A number of social media users were divided after learning that the accused could be granted bail next month.
