Adetshina confirms to Sowetan that she recently got divorced and is a mother to a one-year-old baby boy.

“I got divorced in February. We were not compatible because he had this ideology of what an African married woman is. I didn’t want to be in a position where I can’t go out, but had to clean, cook. That was just not for me because as a society, we are way past that phase,” she said.

“My parents have been very supportive and although my marriage robbed me from enjoying the beauty of pregnancy and being a wife. Overall, it brings me joy that I get to take new steps with my son. “

She also reveals that she didn’t think she’d be a mom at her age as her son was conceived out of wedlock.

Briefly reports that the 23-year-old model married and divorced her Nigerian husband within a year.

The South African reached out to Adetshina for a comment.

MISS SA: TOP NINE FINALIST

The beauty queen Chidimma Adetshina was recently announced as a Miss SA top nine finalist on Crown Chasers.

“I’ve always envisioned a dream to be on Miss SA since 2017 and here I am achieving that goal. To me, being a finalist is as if I’m rewriting my mother’s dream of becoming a model.”

“Her father didn’t allow her to do anything related to modelling, so I feel like I’m living her life which feels like a beautiful dream come true,” she tells Sowetan.

Miss SA organisation reveals that the model is from Soweto, Gauteng, and is studying law at Varsity College.

In about a week, South Africans will get to witness a new beauty queen being crowned at this year’s Miss SA pageant.

SOUTH AFRICANS REACT TO WEDDING VIDEO

@ThuliSaul_: “Yooooh yazin the bar is too low… Miss SA should be condemned for allowing married women and foreign nationals. I’m so disappointed.”

@Dr_Shiyaklenga: “Illegal foreigners getting married in our country. Imagine if we let this girl be our Miss SA? The whole of Nigeria would hold a South African citizenship.”

@TheRealSmomoh: “Now she’s Nigerian due to her husband’s surname or she was giving the fellow countryman citizenship?”

@TheGeopol: “South Africans are weak for allowing such, even Mandela would be ashame. Y’all failed to protect the only functioning black country on earth.”
