His latest character is different to his “charming” roles in The Estate as Khulekani Nzimande and Suffocate Ndlovu in Rhythm City.

Sunday World reports that Mabaso will join The River actresses Linda Mtoba and Sindi Dlathu, who will play mother and daughter Nthandokayise and Tholakele Mthombeni in Queendom.

TVSA reports that Mabaso won the Golden Horn for his role as Suffocate at the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs) in 2009.

‘RHYTHM CITY’ FANS DEFEND ACTOR: ‘HE’S NOT BROKE OR SICK’

@EMKEM_Mike: “People even thought he might have been homeless. Acting is such an amazing God given talent. One is able to tap in different forms of performing and still kill it.”

@E_Thokozile: “When American actors do these types of transformations it’s regarded as having a “range” or being “dedicated to the craft”. In South Africa he is sick and has lost his charm. We have a long way.”

@truly_vikki: “That exactly how he looked as Mgedeza on DiepCity for the prison storyline. Excellent this one!”

@NgwaketsiN: “Was I the only one who was prepared to give the brother some donations for whatever and campaigns for him.”

Diapo Joseph: “He looks the part of his new role, which makes him a truly phenomenal actor.”

Ital Steppa: “Don’t forget this guy is an actor. Could be preparing for a new shot.”

Vusi Buthelezi: “Hopefully there’s a new role he is playing that requires him look like this.”

Pamela Gcelu: “It’s the new character🙄 He is an actor after all the best actor futhi, so we expect different looks on him.”
