With a career spanning years, Springboks captain and Racing 92 star Siya Kolisi has fast become one of the most celebrated rugby players in the world. He has undoubtedly been winning big since his senior debut.


The loose forward captained the history-making Springboks squad at the tenth edition of the Rugby World Cup, which France hosted. The Springboks edged New Zealand 12-11 in an epic final that saw the team going down in the history books of World Rugby.

The win undoubtedly saw the Springboks becoming the first team to win for Rugby World Cups. Surprisingly, they archived this record in eight appearances. Apart from the Springboks also became the second team after the All Blacks to win the World Cup back-to-back.

On the other hand, Siya Kolisi became the second-ever captain to win back-to-back Rugby World Cups. He achieved this feat after captaining the Springboks to glory in 2019 and 2023.

The 33-year-old star was born on 16 June 1991 in Gqeberha (formerly known as Port Elizabeth), South Africa. However, with the next Rugby World Cup in 2027, many are more than convinced that he might have his last dance in the green and gold at the RWC, given that he will be 36.

Siya Kolisi started his youth career with the Eastern Province Kings. He went on to make his senior appearance with the Western Province. Since his senior career debut, he has starred for rugby giants Stormers and the Sharks.

Currently, Siya Kolisi plays for Parisian giants Racing 92. He joined the Top 14 outfit ahead of the tenth edition of the Rugby World Cup. However, his big wins on and off the pitch have established him as a global icon.

He was named one of Time Magazine’s Most Influential People this year.
