The docu-series is directed by Sara Blecher and produced by Thandi Davids, Neil Brandt and Tendeka Matatu. According to a statement released by Netflix, the thrilling five-part true crime documentary series delves into the beloved soccer star’s murder, sharing insight into what transpired that fateful night when Senzo Meyiwa was gunned down in what was alleged to be a botched robbery in 2014.

The series features exclusive interviews with sports broadcaster Robert Marawa, former Hawks head Shadrack Sibiya, as well as Advocate Gerrie Nel and Meyiwa’s family members, who all provide an intimate look at both the life and death of the Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates captain.

Senzo was shot and killed in his girlfriend – Afro Pop singer Kelly Khumalo’s mother’s house. There were six eyewitnesses at the scene, including some of his closest friends. Yet it is only now, eight years later, that the suspects – alleged hitmen for hire – are going on trial. Were these five men involved, or was it a cover-up for something more sinister?

Speaking to Daily Sun recently, Senzo Meyiwa’s brother Sfiso Meyiwa maintained that Kelly did not kill Senzo but she knows the person who did.

New details recently emerged that indicate his assassination was a contract hit rather than a robbery gone wrong. Senzo’s brother said the people who were at the house when his brother was shot, know the truth. “But they choose to hide it. We don’t know whether they were threatened or what the case is, but the story that they gave us was cooked up,” he said.

He said they know who killed his brother and the police know too. “We know who pulled the trigger. Police know it too but for some reason they won’t arrest the person,” he said.
