Award-winning singer Zahara rose to fame after releasing her debut album Loliwe. The album was certified multi-platinum and her song Loliwe, became a national anthem.

While her legion of fans thought Zahara was coining it with albums, royalties, and bookings, she accused her record label of exploiting her. The singer has been struggling financially for a while, but it seems she might strike a big deal with South Africa’s top football club Kaizer Chiefs, if all goes well.

Currently, Loliwe’s hitmaker is at risk of losing her home due to defaulting on her R17 665, 40 monthly installments. According to City Press, Nedbank has threatened to put her townhouse up for auction to the highest bidder, if she fails to pay the R1.9 million bond. She is appealing to the public for help so that she does not lose her house.

Zahara is begging Kaizer Chiefs to save her from this mess, this is according to Daily Sun. Essentially, she wants to host a three-hour concert for her fans in order to raise funds for her family and herself.

“I want to plead with Chiefs and Kaizer Motaung when they have their next match. I don’t want to do much. I just want to sing my heart out. I can do a three-hour show. All I’m asking for is the sound equipment, stadium and ambulances as well as other things,” she added.

The club’s spokesperson Vina Maphosa said they will discuss Zahara’s request. Zahara went on to reveal that things have been bad at home since her sister Nomusa Mkutukana died in 2021. She said now she is the breadwinner alone and she is pleading with the club to raise her funds.

A video where Zahara speaking about her financial struggles made rounds on social media recentky. In the video, she told her fans that if they claim to love her, they should go to the companies with whom she is involved in a royalties dispute with. She said she cannot be fighting her battles alone.

“If you guys say you love me, you need to go to these companies, SAMRO, Share Public and our record labels Universal TS Records, and find DJ Sbu and TK Nciza. If you really care about me…I can’t be fighting alone, I do not have money to pay for lawyers. My money is sitting there, that same money I can even build a clinic at my village.

“But you guys are only enticed by what you see on TV. I wrote Loliwe alone. DJ Sbu does not know anything about Lolilwe. I wrote Loliwe and performed it on the streets with people giving me coins. Today they all know Loliwe?” she asked.

Zahara and DJ Sbu are still not on each other’s gook books. In the past, Zahara has accused DJ Sbu of exploiting her, that he failed to compensate her royalties for her smash hit album Loliwe. Now, DJ Sbu has also been accused of trying to steal Zahara’s 5 SAMAs, and has threatened to sue a blogger who accused him of it, for R1 million. Musa Khawula claimed DJ Sbu sent men to her home to allegedly steal those awards.
