145 sheeps recovered and 24 already dead in Eastern Cape
Qumbu police have opened a case of attempted murder and of robbery of livestock (sheep) on Saturday, 29 March 2025 at about 21:00 when stock thieves pounced on a homestead in Lower Tyirha locality shooting and injuring a 33-year-old woman.
As the thieves drove away with about two hundred sheep from the kraal, they shot through the house’s window and the victim was hit on her thigh and she was taken to a nearby clinic and then taken to the hospital.
Police were summoned and the search for thieves and stolen stock during the night was unsuccessful as only one sheep was recovered.

On Sunday, 30 March 2025 at about 12:00, police received information about sheep spotted in Bhelekence locality near a river and on arrival with some locals, they recovered 145 live sheep and 24 already dead as they were hidden in a steep river valley.
No one has been arrested yet and investigation on the matter is ongoing.
