According to Wedding ETC, Rachel Kolisi met Siya at a dinner party in Stellenbosch, Western Cape, back in 2012. The pair started off as friends and later started dating. Siya has siblings – Liyema and Liphelo, who he shares a mother with. However, Siya’s mom tragically passed away, and his siblings were left bouncing from orphanages to foster homes for years before Siya and Rachel were financially stable enough to adopt them in 2014, according to IOL.

In December 2015, Siya asked Rachel to marry him during a helicopter ride over Cape Town. The pair welcomed their first child, Nicholas Siyamthanda. In 2017, the pair welcomed their second child, a beautiful baby girl named Keziah.

Siya and his family lived in Durban, South Africa, before their move to Paris. At the time, he played for the Sharks alongside his “best friend”, Eben Etzebeth. However, Siya later moved to the Paris-based rugby team Racing92. So, Rachel and the kids relocated with him to Paris, France.

At the time of the move, Siya said that his new venture at Racing92 would enable him to spend more time with his family. He explained that this was a significant part of his decision to move to France.

“Rachel and the kids have sacrificed so much through my career, and I am immeasurably grateful for this. The move to Racing 92 will enable me to spend more time with my family, which is something that I have longed for. And this prospect certainly played a significant part in my decision making,” he said in a statement according to The Kolisi Foundation.

Siya joined Racing92 after he led South Africa to win the Rugby World Cup in 2023. The South African national team became double-world cup champions after also winning the Rugby World Cup in 2019. The Springboks also previously won in 1995 and 2007.
