Bachelor life? Rassie paints the town red at pub

Springboks coach Rassie Erasmus appeared in good spirits after a fun night out, a week after his divorce made headlines. Take a look…

Despite reports of a marriage split from his wife of 25 years, Nicolene, Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus, he appeared in good spirits after posting pictures of a fun night out.

According to court documents, the retired rugby player and the mother of his three children quietly divorced in April.

The notoriously private couple – who wed in 2003 – are parents to three children: daughters Nikki, Carli, and Janie.

RASSIE ERASMUS ENJOYS NIGHT OUT AMID DIVORCE

A week after news of his divorce made headlines, Rassie Erasmus returned to his X account with a life update.

There was no indication that anything was amiss on the home front.

In fact, the man who led South Africa to two consecutive Rugby World Cup wins was seen enjoying a night out at what is believed to be a local pub.

With his usual sarcastic banter, Rassie tweeted: “Not a lot of fans, but this one, I think is my biggest.”

In the comments section, many rugby fans were happy to see the Springboks boss smiling amid news of his divorce.

@Ralph70766640: “Hoppa Rasta man”

@Gurahoo10: “I think Rassie has been on a bender since the [Rugby World Cup] final.”

@floodssky: “I really want to be a fly in the wall in your home on weekends…things really get lit

Last month, Rassie shared pics of his boozy boys weekend, attended by fellow Springbok staff. In one pic, the 51-year-old looks worse for wear as he wears a bizarre look consisting of his graduation gown, Rugby World Cup medals, new shoes (with the label still attached), and wielding a sword.

He captioned one of the tweets: “Siyajaiva namhlanje [We’re dancing today]”

‘BACHELOR WHO WAS MARRIED’

While neither Rassie Erasmus nor his ex-wife Nicolene have made mention of their divorce, the rugby hero has made mention of his early days of marriage.

In his 2023 autobiography Rassie: Stories of Life and Rugby, the former Springbok reflected on his professional playing days and the “glamorous” life it entailed.

Despite being a newlywed, the Bok claimed he had frequented many parties and nightclubs.

An excerpt reads: “When you have money and no family obligations, nothing stands in your way. I was basically a bachelor who was married.”

MARRIED TO RUGBY?

Meanwhile, several South African fans have expressed their sadness at news of Rassie’s marriage breakdown.

And some believe that it likely came at a cost to the man who is so passionate about coaching South African rugby talent.

One tweep posted: “I read a story about Dr Rassie Erasmus going through a divorce….When you’re a revolutionary, you have to make sacrifices, and your relationship is often the first thing to crack.”

Others agreed:

@ConsceliaM: “A lot of people who did a lot for society had to do so at the detriment of their own personal lives”

@Fifi_Kumalo: “You can’t have it all, unfortunately.”
