Chidimma Adetshina relocates to Nigeria following a historic Miss Universe victory
So, the buzz is real, folks! Chidimma Adetshina, our dazzling 1st runner-up at Miss Universe 2024, has dropped a major bombshell – she’s relocating to Nigeria for good! Yep, you heard that right. During a recent press conference, she announced that her new home base would be Nigeria, and honestly, it’s hard not to feel a wave of excitement combined with a touch of nostalgia.
After clinching the Miss Universe Africa and Oceania crown in Mexico at the 73rd edition of Miss Universe, Chidimma made history as the first Nigerian to break into the top five. A whopping achievement, if you ask me! Since then, she’s been the talk of the town, lighting up headlines and social media feeds with her success. But now, she seems ready to settle into a new chapter of her life back home.
During the press conference, Chidimma expressed her immense pride in not only her achievements but also in representing Nigeria and Africa on such a grand stage. Quoting her, she said, “I am really proud of where I got to. And I feel like I not only made myself proud, but I made Nigeria proud and Africa proud.” But with that pride comes a bittersweet farewell, as she hinted that this is “the end of the road” for her in what sense? We can only speculate!
And this isn’t coming out of nowhere, either. A few months back, during an interview with Cool FM Nigeria, she jokingly mentioned, “I think it’s safe to say I’m not going back.” Clearly, Chidimma has had her sights set on Nigeria for a while now, with dreams of furthering her studies and self-development as her primary mission.
The timing of her move is also interesting. Just as the Department of Home Affairs announced that her mother had been barred from entering South Africa due to a complicated identity theft issue, Chidimma decided to make her departure permanent. This incident stirred quite the controversy back in South Africa, with many citizens questioning her nationality given her mixed heritage – a South African mother of Mozambican descent and a Nigerian father.
While the dust is still settling on her circumstances in South Africa, one thing is for sure: Chidimma is deeply rooted in her Nigerian identity, and she’s ready to embrace it fully. Since winning the Miss Universe Nigeria crown and subsequently representing Nigeria at the global level, she’s made waves – and she’s not stopping anytime soon.
As Chidimma embarks on this new adventure, we can’t help but cheer her on as she transitions from the glitz and glamour of international beauty contests to her life in Nigeria. With ambitions of furthering her education and continuing to make strides in whatever she chooses next, we’ve got a feeling this is just the beginning for her.
So here’s to Chidimma Adetshina – a beauty with brains, ambition, and a heart for her roots. We can’t wait to see what she’ll accomplish next! Keep shining, girl!
