Khumalo joined former Gauteng premier and businessman, Tokyo Sexwale; jazz legend, Sipho ‘Hotstix’ Mabuse; and former Operation Dudula leader, Nhlanhla Lux.

Sharing a throw-back picture of Khumalo on social made, the ANC said: “The strength of the ANC is in its members and volunteers. Thank you to you all for consistently carrying out the message to our people. We will do better, we will do more, and we will do it faster. Together!”

In one video, the former Kaizer Chiefs coach can be heard pledging his allegiance to the ANC. He went on to say he would not have been a football star if it was not for the party.

‘I AM NOT AFFILIATED WITH ANY PARTY’

However, Khumalo has denied campaign for the governing party. Speaking to TimesLIVE, the former Bafana midfielder said he was advising the ANC to fix its issues if it expects votes from South Africans.

Khumalo further said that he is not affiliated with any political party.

“I am not affiliated with any party. I told the ANC leaders I was not campaigning, I told them they need to fix the problems people face if they want votes.

“I was not campaigning for the ANC. Campaigning is like luring & telling people to vote for a particular party and I was not doing that. When Tokyo invited me, I decided to go because I come from Dube. People on social media then made assumptions about me,” Khumalo told the publication.
