DNA results of murdered couple finally revealed
AFTER a long, painful wait, the families of journalist Sibusiso Aserie Ndlovu and his partner, Zodwa Precious Mdhluli, have finally found closure.
DNA tests have confirmed that the human remains discovered at Rust de Winter on 8 May belong to the couple.
Though heartbreaking, the news allows the grieving families to begin their healing journey.
The couple had been missing since February, and the South African Police Service (SAPS) revealed the DNA test results on Wednesday, 4 June, enabling the families to proceed with funeral arrangements.
Both the African Media and Communicators Forum and the National Press Club have expressed relief at this significant milestone in the investigation, praising the police for honouring their commitment to deliver the DNA results within four weeks.
The discovery of the remains comes as no surprise, as the suspects identified the location during their interrogation following their arrest.
“As the AMCF and NPC, we welcome this milestone in the investigation as it leads the families closer to the truth.
“We wish to convey our gratitude to the SAPS for keeping to their promise that in four weeks the results would be available. We confirm that the families in Ga-Rankuwa (Ndlovu) and Thembisa (Mdhluli) were visited earlier this evening by the police, where the results were disclosed to them,” said Elijah Mhlanga, Chairperson of the AMCF.
The families are relieved that the long wait is finally over and that they can begin with plans for funerals.
On the other hand, acting chairperson of the National Press Club, Antoinette Slabbert, said: “It has been an agonising wait for the results after months of grief following the mysterious disappearance of the couple. We hope that the evidence will also serve in court in the murder charges against the accused.”
Memorial services and funeral details will be announced once the families have finalised arrangements.
As families prepare to lay loved ones to rest, they find solace, knowing justice will be served.
The suspects, who revealed the remains’ location after arrest, will face consequences for their actions in court.
