Die Antwoord is a ‘controversial and influential’ band, according to their website.

Their history starts in 2008: MaxNormal.TV rebranded as the zef-rappers. Unfortunately, it also appears like the history is a construct – and the old Constructus Corporation members have built an interesting back-story.

A Facebook post by Watkin Tudor Jones says, ‘Not adopted.’

What’s Yolandi Visser’s story – and could this be her mom pictured in a 2011 archive?

Here’s more about the band’s original story, and what could be the real truth.

DIE ANTWOORD: IS THIS YOLANDI VISSER’S REAL MOM?

Official biographies of Yolandi Visser list the rapper as Anri du Toit, the adopted daughter of a reverend named Ben.

According to this, she was born in Port Alfred. Yolandi later joined The Constructus Corporation, credited as Anica the Snuffling.

After this, the members formed MaxNormal.TV – and in 2008, became The Answer.

There appears to be few biographical details about the rapper, except the puzzling ‘not adopted’ comment.

DIE ANTWOORD: IS THIS YOLANDI VISSER’S MOM?

An article published in Sarie during 2011 gives an answer to the singer’s puzzling history.

The headline ‘We speak to Die Antwoord-singer’s mother about her different child’ is more than a clue to her origins.

While the article isn’t hosted online anymore, an archived copy might tell all.

According to the article, Mandie Visser is Yolandi’s mother – the same article notes that Yolandi is her real name, too.

The article says, ‘It doesn’t matter what image Die Antwoord has, I know the incredible child behind Yolandi Visser (her real name).’
