Fan-favourite Emzini Wezinsizwa actor Jerry Phele has landed a role on e.tv’s hit telenovela, Smoke and Mirrors.

Entertainment commentator, Phil Mphela reports that Jerry Phele, who portrayed Mofokeng in Emzini Wezinsizwa will soon debut in Smoke and Mirrors.

Though it is unclear at this stage what character he will play in the e.tv show soapie fans are thrilled to see the comedic actor on their small screens.

TVSA reports that Phele played his legendary character of Mofokeng in the SABC1 sitcom from 1994 to 2003.

He’s also starred in SABC2’s sitcom Skwizas as Morena alongside legendary actresses Lillian Dube and Tsholofelo Matshaba.

The Sesotho actor also appeared in Mzansi Magic’s sitcom Samsokolo as a scheming taxi driver, Bra Seputla in 2013.

Phele also played Motsamai, the village joker in Ferguson Films’ Sesotho telenovela titled, The Throne.

HLOMLA DANDALA ALSO SECURES ROLE IN ‘SMOKE AND MIRRORS’?

Entertainment commentator Jabu Mcdonald also announced in December that Smoke and Mirrors actor Zolisa Xaluva has been replaced with Hlomla Dandala.

“Hlomla Dandala has joined #etvSmokeandMirrors for their second season and will be taking over Zolisa Xaluva’s character as the new Caeser Ngonyama,” tweeted Macdonald.

An insider also revealed to Zimoja that Dandala will be starting to shoot for season two of the popular e.tv telenovela as the ruthless businessman, Caesar.

This comes after Sunday World reported that Final Chapter Productions, which produces Smoke and Mirrors confirmed that the production house has parted ways with actor Zolisa Xaluva.

“At the onset of the new season of Smoke & Mirrors, the producers of Final Chapter Productions came to a resolution to amicably part ways with Zolisa Xaluva.”

“Zolisa has been an asset to the show in his role as Caesar Ngonyama, and we wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavours,” read the statement.
