Exclusive: Who is ‘Summertide’ star Robyn Rossouw.

Here’s five things to know about South African actress Robyn Rossouw, who plays the role of Amina on Summertide.

ROBYN ROSSOUW PLAYS AMINA ON ‘SUMMERTIDE’

Rising star Robyn Rossouw, stars as 21-year-old Amina on Summertide. The series airs on M-Net every Sunday at 18:00. Amina is a deeper character on the series, who demonstrates resilience and vulnerability. She arrives at Salt & Fire, marked by a sense of uncertainty, seeking out her Aunt Cheryl, indicating familial connections to the Soloman family.

“Amina is seeking out an internship in conservation, whereafter she will enrol for further studies at UCT. She is caught in the midst of familial dynamics and past histories, particularly with Rebecca, who initially is reluctant to acknowledge their connection or provide assistance. This reluctance hints at deeper, unresolved issues within the family dynamic,” as per M-Net.

“Amina’s presence acts as a catalyst, uncovering hidden truths and stirring emotions within the characters, especially Rebecca. Her pursuit of conservation and her educational background highlight her intelligence and commitment and resilience to find her own path in life. Her presence inadvertently brings to light the personal struggles of those around her, especially Rebecca, Gavin and Martin,” as per M-Net.

So, what is the storyline of Summertide?

“An exhilarating South African multi-generational drama following the Field family and those who cross their paths – each with their own secrets and desires,” reads the series synopsis according to IDMB.

While M-Net describes the series as: “love, loss, rivalry, and relationship woes. Follows the lives of the Field family in beautiful Simon’s Town as they tackle trials and tribulations. Watch as secrets come to the surface and their lives intertwine with other residents of the town.”

1ROBYN STUDIED DRAMA

The Summertide star studied drama at Stellenbosch University and graduated in 2018. She majored in Cabaret and Physical Theatre. The actress got quite a quick start in the industry the following year in 2019 and has been working non-stop in Film and TV since then.

2SHE STARRED IN ‘ARENDSVLEI’

Robyn played the role of Monique Ross in Arendsvlei as well as Cindy Avontuur in Swartwater and Crystal in TICKETS.

3. ROBYN HAILS FROM THE NORTHERN CAPE

The actress hails from Kimberly in the Northern Cape. Robyn expressed that what she loves most about the Northern Cape is the people.

“Easy answer. The people. Everyone seems to know everyone. Besides Kimberley being a city (feels like a town), the Northern Cape is made up of little towns. And I feel that such an environment just cultivates a firm foundation in one. The people are grounded, humble. They are warm and generous beyond measure,” she said exclusive to The South African.

“People from the Northern Cape are the best storytellers. Their way of telling a story and setting the plot is like painting a beautiful picture.
If you listen carefully, we speak slower than the rest of the country, especially when speaking Afrikaans. We also have a melodic feel to our tone and this just adds to the beauty. They look out for each other. They raise each other, no questions asked,” she continued.

4. SHE IS MULTI-TALENTED

Robyn is not just a TV star, she has also done radio drama. Aside from acting, she enjoys singing and dancing. Her personal interests also include songwriting, kickboxing, cooking, hiking and taking care of animals.

5. ROBYN IS A FAN OF CATS

The actress is a cat lover.
