“Expressing Affection and Reminiscence: Don Design Extends Support to AKA Amid Prevalent Public Criticism”

Don Design has shared a touching birthday message to his bestie AKA, despite still being critcised over that CCTV clip…

Don Design has quietly remembered the birthday of his best friend, AKA real name Kiernan Forbes. This amid ongoing public scrutiny from fans of the rapper.

The DJ was amongst a group of pals who had accompanied the rapper moments before he was shot and killed by alleged hired hitmen last year.

On Sunday, 28 January, Forbes would’ve celebrated his 36th birthday.

Unsurprisingly, Don – real name Tshediso Mokoko – limited comments from the public.

This, follows his claims that he was being cyberbullied and receiving death threats. On his own birthday on 10 April, he posted on his IG: “Another year around the sun, this is the worst birthday ever. From death threats to my character being assassinated on every social media platform every day”.

He continued: “I still have to wake up in the morning to work and be able to provide for my family. None of this makes sense”.

Don then directed a message to “fake” friends. He added: “I don’t need any of you fake people checking up on me. I’m with my family and getting help. None of y’all can fathom half the s**t I gotta go through.”

STILL A SUSPECT?

AKA’s birthday comes weeks before the first anniversary of his death. And it appears fans still believe Don Design ranks high on a list of suspicious friends.

The Jozi hitmaker and influencer has faced widespread backlash from the public for his body language caught on CCTV footage moments before the shooting.

Don was also dragged for pouring a bottle of Hennessy on his friend’s grave – with many accusing him of using “muthi.”

To add insult to injury, music industry insider Nota Baloyi named and shamed him for allegedly having a hand in his death.

But despite being defended by AKA’s parents, Tony and Lynn, and brother Steffan, Don Design has still faced criticism from the public.

Following police minister Bheki Cele’s comments that the rapper’s killers were known to him, one X user tweeted: “I suspect Don Design. I’ve never liked that ni**a around AKA.”
