The sixth season of popular reality series I Blew It will feature former Mamelodi Sundowns right winger, Lerato Chabangu.

The Mzansi Magic documentary show will premiere on Sunday, 28 January, at 19:30.

I Blew It looks into the lives of South Africans who struck gold when they received an unexpected good fortune, but blew it all in an instant.

One of the episodes will also feature Olympic long jump silver medallist and African long jump record holder, Luvo Manyonga.

Manyonga has been struggling with drug addiction for more than a decade. In 2021, he was handed a four-year ban after failing to avail himself for doping tests.

Chabangu – who is affectionately known as “All You Need Is Love” – was a star player for Masandawana and Moroka Swallows. Despite his successful career, which also saw him represent Bafana Bafana, the footballer has fallen on hard times.

In WhatsApp Image 2024 01 25 at 11.21.40 86c8766d2017, he opened up to the SowetanLIVE about how he blew all his football earnings.

The former soccer star said he used to have a beautiful home in Boksburg which he lost due to the reckless lifestyle he led. His car was also repossessed and he couldn’t afford to pay rent at his luxury apartment in Midrand.

“I blew all my money on useless things because I was always guaranteed a salary the following month,” Chabangu said.

When he lost everything, including his wife and daughter, the Chabangu moved back to his grandmother’s house in Tembisa.

“I separated from my wife because of financial issues and I do not see my (six-year-old) daughter anymore because she is with her mother.

“I have made many mistakes in my life and I feel I have learned my lessons. Things are tough and I am not the kind of person who likes to beg.

“I have nothing left. Football is all I know and I hope there’s someone out there who can give me another chance.”
