Gagasi FM hosts accused of mocking Penny Ntuli over R2.8K salary
Gagasi FM presenters Minnie Ntuli and Felix Hlophe have been dragged for their pink eye joke following Penny Ntuli’s salary dispute.
Netizens, including DJ and producer Prince Kaybee, have called out Gagasi FM presenters Minenhle “Minnie” Ntuli and Felix Hlophe for a joke believed to be about Penny Ntuli.
DID MINNIE AND FELIX JOKE ABOUT PENNY NTULI’S SITUATION ON GAGASI FM?
During their breakfast show on Tuesday, 26 March, Felix and Minnie were recorded talking about a routine they said they have adopted which involves checking each other for conjunctivitis.
Otherwise known as pink eye, conjunctivitis is an inflammation of the eye’s conjunctiva – the thin clear tissue that lies over the white part of the eye and lines the inside of the eyelid. According to the National Eye Institute, pink eye causes swelling and redness and the eye may feel itchy and painful. In IsiZulu, pink eye is known as uphenyane.
Speaking on the show, Felix sarcastically coughed as he mentioned that they will be discussing the trending topics before speaking about their ritual.
“La sesinosiko noma uhlelo esinalo la emsebenzini masifika ekseni siqale siqale s’vulane amehlo sibheke ukuthi akekho onophenyane [We have a culture or routine when we arrive at work in the morning where we look each other in the eyes to check if anyone has pink eye],” Felix explained.
Minnie laughed and responded: “Phenyi, phenyi.”
Felix, who is also a comedian, is left shocked at the former East Coast Radio presenter’s response as he covered his mouth and laughed.

RADIO PRESENTERS SLAMMED
The two personalities’ comments have left a bitter taste in many social media users’ mouths as some are convinced that they were throwing a jab at Penny, especially because “phenyi” sounds similar to her name.
Every dog has its day…, wishing Penny blessings upon her life moving forward.🫶🏾 https://t.co/c36TvXwk24

WHY PENNY NTULI LEFT GAGASI FM
On Monday, Penny announced her resignation from KwaZulu-Natal-based radio station Gagasi FM. The 26-year-old, who has 1.6 million followers on TikTok, said that she was not happy with how much the station was going to pay her.
Penny shared a copy of her resignation letter to the station, as well as her new contract offer. The new contract offer reveals that Gagasi FM had given her the graveyard show on Sundays between 1:00 and 4:00. On offer was an amount of R711, 98 per show.
The media personality said that she had “gladly accepted the new show” until she was told she would be getting paid R2 800 per month. According to the radio host, her new salary would have not been too far from what she was getting paid for the past two years.
“I felt embarrassed, but I calmed down and went back to management to ask them to review my salary. With that money, I won’t be able to do anything,” she said.
