Gagasi FM plans to sue Penny Ntuli for revealing her R2800 salary.
After Penny Ntuli voiced her dissatisfaction with the radio station’s R2,800 pay offer, Gagasi FM finally broke its silence.
The head of development and spokeswoman for the commercial radio station based in KwaZulu-Natal, Khulekani Shandu, told TimesLIVE that the station is speaking with its lawyers about the situation.Shandu responded that management has not yet made a decision but that it is in the pipeline.
“This kind of thing, we cannot get into it publicly. I think it was unfortunate but our attorney is [busy] with the matter. At the time [she made the statement] she was still contracted at the station. For her to go public on such matters is a breach of contract. So something like that necessitates legal action but I cannot say much now about that,” Shandu said.

Ntuli expressed her disappointment with the pay offer in her statement, saying she wished to stay at the station. She claimed that it was difficult for her to support her family on such a meagre salary.
“I felt disrespected but I calmed down and went back to the management to ask them to review the salary offer. With that money I will not be able to do anything. [At] Which bank will I be approved with that salary? Life will stop when I show my payslip. I asked how will I feed my family with this money, because they are dependent on me? Can they live with this money? I was not fighting.
Ntuli expressed her gratitude for the chance to broadcast on Gagasi FM despite her financially difficult experience with the station. She also urged aspiring radio presenters to not be afraid to work for commercial radio stations.

They have a decency, and this radio station needs to be canceled and boycotted. Aren’t they ashamed that they were exploiting this young talent.
