Get to know Winnie Ntshaba, founder of the Royal Soapie Awards.
Winnie Ntshaba, a well-known actress from South Africa, began her career as Khethiwe in the SABC 1 soap opera Generations. On the television serial House of Zwide, she presently plays the role of Faith Zwide, the wife of fashion designer and businessman Funani Zwide (Vusi Kunene).
The Zwide family is renowned in South Africa for having the greatest designs. She portrays Faith Zwide, a crafty character who consistently uses strategy to acquire what she wants.
Winnie was born in September 1975 in Eshowe KwaZulu Natal; she is qualified with a BA Drama Honours degree from the University of Natal (Durban). Ntsaba debuted on television when she played a supporting role in the 2004 film Yesterday, alongside legendary actress Leleti Khumalo.
Her major television breakthrough arrived in 2005 when she joined the Generations cast to play the role of Khehiwe Buthelezi for ten years before she, along with the other fifteen actors, was dismissed following a salary dispute.
Winnie graduated from the University of Natal (Durban) with a BA Drama Honours degree in 1997. The actress has business interests in event management, and film production will be worth R22.6 million, a testimony to her hard work.
In 2013, she founded the Royal Soapie Awards, a soap opera awards ceremony aimed at rewarding and recognizing actors. The first ceremony took place at the Durban International Convention Centre on November 2, 2013 and managed to attract corporates and institutions that brought financial value.
Despite the masses knowing her from Generations, the actress has made appearances in a number of shows. After participating in a strike, Winnie is among the 16 actors who lose their jobs for demanding better remuneration for generations. This only opens more doors for her as she gets more roles and launches her award ceremony in 2013.
Finding love in the entertainment industry always ends in tears, and the actress can attest to that. Winnie marries Thabo Modise for a short stint, and the couple announces their divorce. The actress shuns speculations of abuse and infidelity surrounding her breakup, and she continues to co-parent with Modise. Phenyo Modise, their son, is a sight for sore eyes, and the actress always flaunts him on social media.
