The two students at Adiedo Mixed Secondary School owed the school KSh 131,920—an amount their grandmother could not afford to pay.

She pleaded with the principal, James Kabarak, to accept the chickens and issue her a receipt for KSh 6,000, which was the amount she valued the birds at.

In a heartwarming moment that touched many online, one of the chickens laid an egg—seemingly in support of her plea.

Although the principal accepted her offer, Kenyans of goodwill stepped in and helped Mitchelle and Hillary return to school.

Nathaniel Odongo, a philanthropist and CEO of Humanity Touch Charity Organisation based in Kisumu, paid KSh 50,000 and promised to support the two children until they complete their education.

“I have decided to sponsor Mitchelle and Hillary until the end of their secondary school journey. I have also done some shopping for their grandmother and bought back the chickens that were brought in yesterday,” stated Nathaniel.
