“I took a break and taught acting at the Market Theatre.” I created the Pan African Arts Space project, in which I taught children about writing, reading, music, and acting.”

She possesses excellent acting dexterities and, having worked with Stained Glass Productions, made life easier. She didn’t have to go through auditions to get her Nomcebo role on Uzalo, and when they call, she is ecstatic. “As soon as I saw the number pop up on my phone, I thought they’d tell me Ifalakhe has been changed for Season 2…A week later, I was on Uzalo set,” said the actress.

The characters have grown on the masses as they watch them every other weekday. While most people have accepted that parting with actors is part of the soap business, they still find it difficult to let go of some of their favorites. Despite departing the Uzalo SABC show, Nombulelo has made television moments noteworthy. She plays Nomncebo, a lovely, courteous, and gracious woman.

Nomcebo and Qhabanga are childhood sweethearts. She falls pregnant while Qhabanga is in college, and they are happy to be parents. Life takes a turn when Qhabanga starts working, as he is so determined to go up the ranks as a police officer.

Nomncebo eventually finds love in the arms of another man, Mkhushulwa Biyase, and breaks up with Qhabanga. Since the first cut is the deepest, Nomncebo ends it with Biyase and goes back to KwaMashu. This is in a bid to find her dead son and bury him.

“When I think of the day God blessed me with the gift of being a mother, it changed my entire perspective on life; a lot of things didn’t seem to matter so much anymore; everything became about you.” The actress is a mother of one and takes pride in her daughter. She always shows off her cute bundle of joy, and we can’t help but drool.

“I’ve been writing a lot as well, I’m an underground writer, and I’ve been sending some of my recent stuff to my mentor. I have written some interesting stories about the pandemic, about life in lockdown, with characters whose circumstances don’t make sense for what the government asked. Having two people in an apartment isn’t possible for people who live 5, 6, 7 people to a one-bedroom shack. So my writing has been trying to depict what’s happening on the ground,” the actress says in an interview.
