Actress Matshepo Maleme, who portrayed the character of Rea Molapo in e.tv’s ‘House of Zwide’ says she’s not ill.



Popular House of Zwide actress Matshepo Maleme rubbishes social media reports that she’s ill.


Matshepo Maleme’s House of Zwide character, Rea Molapo died from cancer in the e.tv fashion telenovela.


Style You reports that people assumed Maleme has cancer in real life like her character and began spreading fake news.

“I have figured that once you start sharing your most personal information, confidential information with the public, you’ll have to do that all your life. The public has no business diagnosing people.”

“I have never tested for all those things and yet someone, unknown to me, just decides on top of their head that this person is ill.”

Maleme adds that people who are spreading fake news about her are sabotaging future possibilities and prospects for her.

“No one wants to touch you. Thinking that you won’t be able to do the job,” she says.

“It’s unfair to me. It’s criminal. It’s just plain wrong not to me alone, but my family as well.”

Matshepo adds that she’s well and good and felt like people wanted to mess with her. They almost ruined her future with fake news.


TVSA reveals that Matshepo Maleme’s character, Rea exited the show on Monday, 26 February episode.

The e.tv fashion drama topped Twitter trends in December and January when Rea Molapo discovered she’s got cancer.

The Molapos struggled to get chemotherapy for Rea at the government hospital prompting Isaac to get her treated at a private hospital.



The legendary actress Matshepo Maleme told Sowetan in 2017 that her role in Skeem Saam was an answer to her prayers.

Maleme who has been in the industry for over a decade portrayed the role of Lehasa Maphosa’s (Cedric Fourie) wife, Zandi Maphosa.

“When Skeem Saam came along‚ I had been praying for it. When I went to the auditions I actually got lost‚ went to the wrong place and finally arrived like an hour later. But I had a feeling‚ you know that feeling when you know something is yours? I nailed my audition, and I got the call.”

She adds that her on-screen husband was professional, and their work chemistry was evident from the audition room. They worked well together, and it made the story even more authentic.

Maleme is also famously known for her roles in Isibaya, Muvhango, Imposter Inkaba, Gold Diggers and many more.
