‘I’m the captain now!’: Eben Etzebeth mocks Siya Kolisi

New Springboks captain Eben Etzebeth has trolled his bestie Siya Kolisi, who was benched as a substitute in SA’s game against Scotland.

Eben Etzebeth has playfully mocked his pal Siya Kolisi after he was named the Springbok captain in the test match against Scotland on Sunday, 10 November.

The towering player – who is the highest capped in history – led South Africa to victory in the Autumn Series, which took place in Murrayfield, Edinburgh. He also bagged the coveted man of the match title.

The Boks won the game 32-15.

EBEN ETZEBETH PLAYFULLY MOCKS SIYA KOLISI

Ahead of the Springboks game against Scotland, Siya Kolisi posted an image of his jersey for the game. The popular player – who is going through a high-profile divorce from wife Rachel, played his 89th game.

Siya was also “demoted” to the bench as a substitute after coach Rassie Erasmus named Eben Etzebeth – playing his 129th test appearance – as captain.

Jumping into the comments section, Eben jokingly teased his pal Siya, whom he also plays with at the Sharks.’

He posted a meme that read: “I’m the captain now.”

Hilariously, Siya responded: “You win!”

BACK ON THE BENCH AGAIN?

Meanwhile, Siya Kolisi may face another week on the bench when the Springboks take on England and Wales in the next two test series.

Speaking in a post-match interview, the 33-year-old – who sported a swollen eye, said of the strategy at play: “We trust our system. Our coaching staff prepared us very well.

“We got the win, and that’s most important; we’re going to build from this. But this is what I enjoy about this team: there’s always space for growth. The Springboks will take on England and Wales on 16 and 23 November, respectively.
