Junior Khanye claims Kaizer Chiefs made a ‘mistake’ not signing Pitso

“Chiefs made a mistake by going to North Africa and getting Nabi as the new coach. They should have hired coach Pitso,” said Junior Khanye.

Kaizer Chiefs former star midfielder Junior Khanye is making headlines after he took a swipe at Amakhosi coach Nasreddine Nabi in his year-end analysis.

The former dribbling wizard spoke frankly that his former club made a huge mistake by bringing in the Tunisian tactician, who has yet to impress at Kaizer Chiefs.

However, Junior Khanye believes that Kaizer Chiefs should have hired Pitso Mosimane instead, who was available for offers at the time and who boasts of success in the Premier Soccer League.

Junior Khanye, who bounced back on the football scene as an analyst, has been rather vocal and scathing in his criticism of his former club.

“Chiefs made a mistake by going to North Africa and getting Nabi as the new coach. They should have hired coach Pitso, who was available and did not have a job then,” said Junior Khanye.

The former Kaizer Chiefs seemingly made it known that failure to have a string of friendlies also took a toll on his abilities to select and sign the best players for Kaizer Chiefs.

“Playing friendly matches was going to help him sign players that he wants. But now, even if the club gave him money, he is going to bring players that he wants and not players who can fit into the Chiefs’ identity and way of playing.

“Pitso was a free agent, and we all know his record. The Mamelodi Sundowns we are seeing today is because of Pitso’s hard work and vision. The Chiefs project is the kind of assignment that brings the best out of him.

“He loves challenges because he is a winner. So, if you look at the current results and league table, Chiefs made a mistake by bringing Nabi,” Junior Khanye added.

POOR RUN OF FORM

Last week, after Kaizer Chiefs’ 1-1 draw with TS Galaxy, Khanye took a swipe at Nabi and made it known that he was a ‘skelm.’ “Nabi..I’ll be honest, he is a skelm,” Khanye said on iDiski TV.

Despite being dubbed one of the best coaches in Africa, Nasreddine Nabi has failed to prove his dominance in the South African Premier League, with Kaizer Chiefs struggling with form.

In his nine league matches, Nabi has won, lost three games, and has drawn as many.

However, after eight games in the Premier Soccer League, fans were more than convinced that he was the same as former coaches who were let go by the club for a poor run of results.

The Tunisian tactician, who has won big with African giants Young Africans and FAR Rabat, has equalled Ntseki and Zwane’s eight-game ugly run.

However, the two previous coaches managed 11 points from eight games and seemingly had similar records in wins, draws, and losses in eight games.
