LERATO KGANYAGO: VIRAL VIDEO

The DJ and businesswoman Lerato Kganyago responded two passengers who revealed they were injured by a Bolt driver.

In the video, Kganyago talked about how women are not safe while using Bolt as many incidents have taken place. She also questioned why the e-hailing service still operates in South Africa after so many complaints and reports were made.

The radio station adds that one of the e-hailing service’s driver, Emmanuel Mudua, was sentenced to two life imprisonment terms in March. He also received 60 years for rape, kidnapping, and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The driver had reportedly raped four women passengers between January and February 2022.

YFM reports that the Bolt driver who allegedly stabbed two young women in Cape Town this weekend handed himself over to police.

Bolt’s PR Manager, Sandra Buyole tells YNews they are deeply disturbed by the incident. They are working with the police and the implicated driver’s account has been blocked.

SOUTH AFRICANS FRUSTRATED

@Zweli_Thixo: “The fact that Bolt is still operating and we still gonna hear more stories about their drivers hurting our people. Taxi drivers are doing the right thing by beating them up.”

@KlainBass: “I was a bolt driver ah that company only care about the money coming in they don’t care about the safety of the drivers nor passengers.”

@I_Know_Ball4K: “Bolt is still operating, because people need it and use it. No company would work without customers.”

@Basophani: “I get it this is a serious concern. Let’s say Bolt is cancelled, as a result of the crimes committed by these criminal drivers. We will eventually cancel Uber as well and these were brought to solve a problem. Is this really the solution?”

@PietersenR3871: “Bolt can’t be stopped because of you. That’s the other man’s company. There are many unsafe sectors but are operating. Did you hear the full story of the incident?”

BOLT DRIVER ARRESTED

EWN confirms that the Western Cape police have confirmed that a 39-year-old Bolt driver accused of assault has been arrested.

This is after two women revealed they were stabbed in Table View, allegedly by the driver, at the weekend.

The women opened a criminal case at the Table View Police Station earlier this week. Police report that a dispute over a destination drop-off led to the incident.

Frederick van Wyk from the police said: “A 39-year-old male suspect was arrested yesterday [Wednesday] at about 16:00 at a premises in Brooklyn, Milnerton. He will appear in the Cape Town Magistrates court on Friday, on a charge of assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm.”
