Like mother, like son? Trevor Noah’s mom shares hilarious message

Trevor Noah has given a hilarious impression of his mother Patricia, and it’s clear she is the true comedian in the family!

Trevor Noah may be one of the funniest people coming out of South Africa…but it’s clear he got his comedy genes from his mother, Patricia!

The Soweto-born star gave a hilarious impression of his mother during the Netflix Is A Joke comedy festival in Los Angeles, which wrapped up this weekend.

Trevor was born mixed-race to his Xhosa mother and his white Swiss father, Robert Noah.

TREVOR NOAH GIVES IMPERSONATION OF HIS MOM

In a clip posted by Netflix, Trevor Noah is seen talking about his mother, property businesswoman Patricia Noah.

In it, he gave a hilarious impression of the woman who raised him amid Apartheid’s mixed-marriage law.

“If my mom was here, it would be an hour of her telling us how blessed she is,” he said.

And with Mother’s Day on Sunday, 12 May, the 40-year-old revealed what his mother would say on such an occasion.

He told the crowd: “She’d say: ‘Honey, I’m your mother every day. I don’t need a day to be your mother. Every day is Mother’s Day…don’t ever forget that! You are going to give me one day to remember. I’ll give you one day to forget!”.

In January, Trevor Noah joked about his mother after winning an Emmy Award. The star made history as the first black person to win for outstanding talk series [The Daily Show].

But while he had the entire African continent beaming with pride, Trevor had to convince his mom that he had truly won the award.

He shared in an Instagram post: “Attaching proof for everyone who said the inside of the card probably still said John Oliver. And by everyone, I mean… this is only for my mother!”

Trevor – whose Netflix special Son Of Patrica was released in 2018 – hilariously added the hashtags: “#OnlyForPatricia #EveryoneElseKeepScrolling #DontYouDareSayItsPhotoshopped”

‘PRODUCT OF MY PARENTS’ CRIME’

While Trevor Noah has admitted to being labelled as coloured back home in South Africa, it’s not a term he would use to describe himself.

In his memoir Born A Crime, the former Daily Show host revealed he identified as black but was perceived as mixed-race due to legislation in Apartheid, into which he was born.

In an interview with The Current, he said, “I was a product of my parents’ crime. I was a product of them disobeying the law.

“And there were prices that we paid for that, but at the same time, I feel like the rewards have far outweighed those, and that’s thankfully partly due to circumstances because the country changed so much.”

The comedian – who speaks eight languages, including Xhosa, Zulu, and German – has also previously joked about his racial standing in many stand-up shows.
