Former Durban Gen Mxolisi Majozi, best known as Zuluboy, is making headlines after it was reported that he is tipped for a Member of the Executive Committee (MEC) position in KwaZulu-Natal.

No doubt the news has since thrust him into the top trends.

Jacob Zuma-led uMkhonto weSizwe pulled a shocker in the just-ended elections. The party won in the KwaZulu-Natal province, resoundingly ending The African National Congress’ dominance in the province.

However, if the party appoints the actor, he will go down in history. Zuluboy will be the first artist to hold the position. Reports have it that Zuluboy currently serves as a member of the MK’s creative council. The Durban-based star has had the opportunity to meet Jacob Zuma in recent years.

He once hogged headlines when he shared some priceless moments with the former head of state at Nkandla. However, he is one of the celebrities who has openly expressed their support for the MK Party.

Several celebrities made their political views known ahead of the elections. In an interview a few days before the elections, he said, “I’m voting MK ’cause I’m not stupid.”

The director at a Sony Music Entertainment subsidiary, The Orchard, made it known that during Jacob Zuma’s presidency, he had the opportunity to take YFM for not playing black music.

However, he also revealed that people could question the status quo during his term. Nota Baloyi posted on X, formerly Twitter, “Under President Zuma if we didn’t like a minister, he got fired… People protested, and things would happen. We were free to express our displeasure. The only party that’ll hurt the ANC is MK.”

He added, “The only way to defeat the dirty money that rules our country is by voting for Jacob Zuma.”

Some of the celebrities include famous comedian and host Felix Hlope. He was one of the celebrities who supported MK ahead of the elections. Influencer and community activist Tshepo Pitso recently joined the MK Party. In a video shared by the party, he encouraged youths to vote for the MK Party.

However, despite not openly confirming his membership in the party, Papa Penny is reportedly one of the celebrities who have been closely associated with it ahead of the elections.
