Mashabela breaks down at his friend DJ Mashata’s tribute
Limpopo comedian Mashabela Galane couldn’t hold back tears at his best friend DJ Peter ‘Mashata’ Mabuse’s tribute concert on Thursday.
Mashabela Galane paid his respect to his best friend DJ Peter “Mashata” Mabuse at his tribute concert on Thursday evening, 25 April.
DJ MASHATA: TRIBUTE CONCERT
The Limpopo comedian, Mashabela Galane and many more industry friends honoured DJ Mashata at his tribute concert at Emperors Palace.
A video of Mashabela at the tribute was shared by @_BlackZA who captioned the video: “Mashabela breaking down yesterday at his best friends tribute event Mashata”.
Mabuse’s memorial service was held at the Tshwane University of Technology’s Pretoria West Campus from 14:00 on the same day.
Mashabela revealed on Wednesday on X that Mashata’s tribute venue was changed to a bigger venue that offers greater capacity.
The proceeds from Mashata’s tribute concert are expected to be given to the Mabuse family.
The MC, comedian, and DJ passed away on Sunday, 21 April morning near Soshanguve, TUT (Tshwane University of Technology) campus.

PETER MABUSE: FUNERAL SERVICE
Fans of the popular DJ and comedian Peter “Mashata” Mabuse can drop off flowers at his family’s home in Block U, on Rina Street in Mabopane, from 14:00 to 17:00 on Saturday, 27 April.
The comedian’s funeral service will be held on Sunday at the Akasia Community Hall from 08:00.
Sunday World reports that Mamelodi Sundows conveyed their condolences to Mashata who was also their stadium announcer.
“The chairman, the Motsepe family, the board of directors, technical team, players, management, staff, supporters of Mamelodi Sundowns FC and the entire Yellow Nation express their deepest condolences to the family and friends as we mourn the loss of the multi-talented Peter “Mashata” Mabuse, who served as an announcer at the Mamelodi Sundowns games.”
“We pray that the Almighty comforts and strengthens the Mabuse family, his fans, friends, and colleagues in the entertainment industry. Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones and every one that was touched by his talent, entertainment, and laughter. Robala Ka Kgotso Mashata – The Msindo Maker.”
Mashata’s employer, TUT also paid tribute to him in a statement:
“Mabuse, has been a loyal employee of TUT where he served as a Residence Advisor for both Pretoria and Ga-Rankuwa Campuses. His varied community engagement activities, e.g. as MC and as stadium announcer at Mamelodi Sundowns home matches, had a positive impact on society beyond the gates of the University.”
